Received a very trustworthy email. Putting together all my paperwork (bank account details, etc) so I can help General Lloyd.
A very powerful XKCD comic. The mouseover reads ‘I calculate that the electrons in radiation therapy hit you at 99.8% the speed of light, and the beam used in a 90-second gamma ray therapy session could, if fired with less precision, kill a horse (they did not let me test this)’. Go Randall!

Spring starting to freeze, Avonhead Park, 7:35am. A couple of hours later was even worse.
Doggyo really wanted to be in the picture. Snowing in Christchurch, Avonhead Park 7:46am.
7:27am Monday 25 July, Russley, Christchurch, New Zealand. Running with the dog while snowing was quite nice.
Crisp morning, yesterday (Sunday) at 8am. Avonhead Park completely frosted, temperature -1°C.
‘Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis and I were having a beer at the pub, when someone bumped on Bruce…’ Colleagues tell me that my story doesn’t sound very plausible but—in my humble opinion—it is preferable to the ‘I hit my eye on a shower door knob while washing the dog’ one.
Quick phone camera snapshot while walking the dog in Avonhead Park, Christchurch, evening of 12 June 2011. Almost same spot as the previous picture.
