After each quake Geonet made available maps displaying Peak Ground Acceleration. It is easy to see that PGA for the 22 February quake was 1: much larger than the 4 September 2010 quake (2.20 g rather than 1.26 g) and 2: the geographical distribution was quite different (and closer to Christchurch). Please notice that the maps are on different scales (1:250,000 for September and 1:125,000 for February).
In September 2010 most of the red points (high PGA) were located West South West of Christchurch.

In February 2010 were located on Christchurch and South of the City (in Lyttelton).
